Swedish Folk Music Treasures: Christer Wesström

The 12th volume in my Treasures series focuses on Christer Wesström who plays the silverbasharpa. Playing with him is Kalle Pettersson on guitar.

Christer is a goldmine of knowledge about the early silverbasharpa players as well as a masterful and engaging storyteller. In this film, his stories are as important as his music. A tradition bearer in the finest sense, Christer’s playing is deeply and firmly rooted while at the same time he freely interprets and makes the music his own.

Filming took place in June 2014 in Christer's home in Östhammar, Uppland, a stone’s throw from the Baltic Sea to the east.

All my Treasures films were originally for sale and distributed in DVD format. In 2024 I decided to release the films on YouTube.
