Swedish Folk Music Treasures: Thore Härdelin
The 13th volume in my Treasures series focuses on fiddler Thore Härdelin, born in 1946. Thore is one of the leading Hälsinge fiddlers of today and an important tradition bearer specializing in tunes from northern and middle Hälsingland. His repertoire is rich with gems passed down from early fiddlers of the greater Delsbo area.
He is a third generation fiddler—his father was Sven Härdelin, and his grandfather was Thore Härdelin (the elder). All three are recipients of the distinguished Zorn Gold Medal.
Filming took place in Thore’s summer home, in Näsviken, Hälsingland, Sweden in June 2014.
All my Treasures films were originally for sale and distributed in DVD format. In 2024 I decided to release the films on YouTube.
